Silver Thread Falls

Description

Although it runs fairly dry in late summer and much of fall, it’s easy to see why Silver Thread Falls got its name. In high water, the stream falls in a straight line down a steep rock face in a straight narrow channel which the falls have carved out, resembling a thread. The falls are fairly unique in the waterfall world since the falls are completely straight with no twists or turns at all. The only thing that prevents this from being a 70 foot slide straight down the rock cliff is that halfway up the falls, the slope suddenly levels out for a few feet and then drops again. The falls are very interesting but you cannot get close to them and the only thing that you can see in drier periods is the carved channel which is pretty interesting in itself. [link]
